When it comes to fall the possibilities for fall fashion are endless. However, in this post, we are only going to focus on the 5 Fall Weather Essentials.
As I mentioned in my previous post Top 10 Favorite Things about Fall, fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The leaves are changing, the weather is cooler and the nights are getting shorter. At the beginning of fall, the mornings are usually cooler, hints of the weather that is soon to consume the ever stifling heat. When I lived in Oregon, most of the time Fall weather started towards the end of August. Which was perfect!
Needless to say, I have an overloaded wardrobe of hoodies, sweaters, and thermals!
5 Fall Weather Essentials
- Flannel Shirt-
My favorite layering technique is a long sleeve tee shirt and a flannel shirt. Flannels come in several colors and even different patterns from plaid. On top of those, I like to pair them with a cozy cardigan or a puffer jacket. Really, at the beginning of fall, a flannel is perfect in place of a jacket. You can always take it off and tie it around your waist, very 90’s. Pair this with your favorite pair of sneakers, or if it is raining some ankle boots.
The jeans are great, trust me I love them. But I have learned that leather (faux leather) pants are amazing and can be stylish with anything you wanna pair them with. Such as a chunky sweater, an oversized cardigan, or a long button-up shirt tucked in the front. We know this as the “french tuck”.
I could go on and on about boots. There is nothing I love more than boots, well except for jackets. I love tall boots, short boots, knee-high, ankle….see the list goes on. But for fall I think a good pair of rain boots ankle or tall is perfect. For me, I love the Joan of Arctic II from Sorel. These boots are not only comfortable but stylish too. They are super functional in keeping your feet warm and dry.
I loved these from the moment I saw them and living in Oregon where the rain is constant (secretly jumping up and down!) these were perfect for both fall and winter.
Chunky, thin, cardigans, turtlenecks and so much more! My favorites hale from J.Crew and Gap. Sweaters are great for fall weather since you probably don’t need a jacket, you can wear them with or without an undershirt. Layering really is a girl’s best friend during fall. The major benefit of sweaters is they are versatile and will pair nicely with jeans, leggings, joggers, and of course vegan leather pants!
5. Light-Weight Jackets
The language of love for me is jackets. Wool, puffer, jean, doesn’t matter I love them all equally. This time of year a lightweight jacket such as a jean jacket or a rainproof jacket gets the job done! A jean jacket is so versatile you can pair it with a dress, shorts, joggers and of course skinny jeans.
