When I had my first son I began to look and think about the products that I was buying. Along the same time, my husband and I simultaneously began experiencing eczema symptoms We tried everything, from changing laundry soap, body lotion, perfumes, and whatever else we put on our skin. We even had our water tested to make sure that hard water was not the culprit.
As we slowly started to introduce products back into our lives, I realized the number of chemicals in things that we buy, and then I put two and two together. For us, this was why our skin was wigging out. Companys were changing their formulas, adding cheaper chemicals to their ingredients or switching ingredients to make it more budget-friendly, etc.
Now I am sure none of this isn’t news to anyone, we have all heard the negative news of parabens, aluminum, etc. But what you may not be aware of is that these chemicals are in everything. From toothpaste, shampoos, deodorant, to laundry soap. So, instead of trying to fit expensive cleaning products into my budget, I turned to a basic ingredient that my mom used on a daily basis.
In fact, most people have this ingredient in their pantries. When I moved to France I learned it is an ingredient found in EVERY cleaner. So what is this magic cleaner?
I know you shook your head and said “Um no, the smell.” But trust me my homemade mixture doesn’t have that smell. And the best part is you can use it to clean your counter, your oven, your fridge, the windows, and mirrors. Pretty much anything!

1 cup of water
1 cup of regular plan old vinegar
two whole lemons
mix together in a spray bottle or bucket, now clean.
The best part!
This natural cleaner is also a degreaser, cuts through mildew, bacteria, and grime. When I use this on my oven, I also add baking soda to create my own soft scrub. I know some will say NOT to do this, so I will say this: use your own judgment. I find that it helps me since I am not a regular oven cleaner.
